Sometimes in life, business and sports, intangibles make all of the difference. I recently stumbled upon a New York Times story about Peyton Manning (who is on my greatest quarterback pedestal along with of course, my NFL hero, Tom Brady) and Ryan Leaf. You may remember that Manning and Leaf were drafted as the 1-2 picks in the 1998 NFL draft. Manning went on to win two Super Bowl rings and achieve legendary feats, and Leaf…is now serving a sentence for breaking into a house looking for painkillers.
What ultimately was the difference between Manning and Leaf? I say that character made all of the difference—the internal intangibles that drove them as athletes and men. These intangibles meant the difference between true greatness, and utter failure.
When I look back on my career so far, I’m proud of all the tangibles—all the specific things I’ve accomplished or training programs that I’ve put out that are still helping people to this day—however, it’s the mistakes I’ve made and lessons I’ve learned that have that stuck with me the most.
So today I want to talk about 10 of those internal lessons that have shaped me as a person, as a woman, as a business owner, as a mom, a wife and as a product creator.

Each lesson resonates with me, Pam, but “Lesson 4: Keep getting better,” stands out. After discovering that I need to re-record all of my audiobook content, I am finding that the second version sounds so much better. Lesson learned: sometimes the problems we encounter are blessings in disguise to help us “get better” in the process!
