Inspiration can strike in the funniest places, so why not store holiday window displays?
Take the story of “Wite-Out.” Dallas secretary and single mom Bette Nesmith Graham got the idea for a white, water-based tempera paint to cover up her typing errors while watching painters decorate her bank employer’s windows.
Bette sold her first batch of “Mistake Out” in 1956 and renamed the product Liquid Paper in 1958. She would later sell the company to the Gillette Corporation in 1979.
What can we learn from the resourceful Bette? You never know when inspiration, or your next great idea, may strike.
So check out these 5 questions and 1 word that I use every year to set my business up for success—and make sure to leave me a comment: What will be your one powerful theme for the year?

And here’s the trivia question about Wite-Out. Bette is the mother of what famous pop musician from the sixties?

Thanks for the post! I know one “must” for me this year is to think through the opportunity cost of my decisions. I appreciate the reminder, and the nudge to get going on creating my game plan for next year.
Happy Holidays!

Just took a break from the jammed mall to check out your video. I am thinking my word for next year needs to be “focus.” I’ve been trying to get a lot done in too many places in 2015, and feel like I’m stretched thin. I think a lot has to do with getting out of overwhelm, too. I plan to take a deep breath and tackle these questions. Thanks, Pam!

Many thanks for this excellent guidance of introspection and comprehensive review. I am sure it will be revealing and offering unknown perspectives. Good idea as well the “Theme of the year”. I will look for an expression which fits my business needs and is loaded with a good deal of emotion as well – in order to draw me out of bed in the morning!
Have great Christmas Holiday, all the best to you and your a family and let’s move on in 2016!
Pam says
Thanks Andreas, and let me know what you decide on in terms of your theme! Here’s to your best year yet in 2016!

Those questions are so though provoking on many levels. Thank you for sharing them in the context that you did.
I sometimes have themes for a year based on song lyrics, or even an experience, but regardless of the the method of the theme, it helps keep me motivated.
Merry Christmas to you and yours – Blessings for 2016. May we all live in more harmony and peace.

Send me a bigger update about how you guys are doing and what’s going on (send me a PM on FB and I’ll give you my contact info). And I recorded this video because I needed it for myself to get ready for 2016, as well. 😉 In the meantime, love and hugs to you! Pam
